Heightened rhetoric from Pyongyang - North Korea threatens to attack the South

Pyongyang has threatened to attack South Korea, saying it no longer feels bound by the armistice signed at the end of the Korean War 56 years ago. The threat follows a decision by Seoul to join a US-led operation to check North Korean vessels suspected of carrying weapons. Pyongyang warned that it would respond to any interference with its vessels with a quote powerful military strike. In the past three days Pyongyang has escalated tensions by setting off a nuclear bomb underground and test-launching five short-range missiles. +++SYN-MAZ+++ done
