A few years ago, the world appeared to be heading for an epidemic of drug abuse, but now there's evidence to suggest the problem is being brought under control.
In its latest annual World Drug Report, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime said global markets for narcotics remained largely stable last year. It also reported that the share of drugs seized by law enforcement agencies has increased, with some 42 percent of global cocaine production never making it to consumers.
