Celebrating its 20th anniversary, this year’s Campus Project has invited young musicians from across Europe to Bonn to work on an ambitious musical program together with members of the German National Youth Orchestra. Their focus will be on spatial compositions from the 20th and 21st centuries.

Works by Iannis Xenakis ("Alax"), György Kurtág ("… quasi una fantasia …") and Zeynep Gedizlioğlu ("Entlang der Lieder"), to be performed on August 28 and 29, all integrate the spatial component by placing the musicians – under the direction of Johannes Kalitzke – in small groups around the audience for a unique sound experience.

Also on the program is Ludwig van Beethoven's "Sonata quasi una fantasia". On piano is the young Cologne pianist Knut Hanßen. The highlight of the evening will be the premiere of the DW-commissioned work "Entlang der Lieder" by Zeynep Gedizlioğlu.

In addition to its involvement in the Campus Project, Deutsche Welle is official media partner to the Beethovenfest, providing multimedia coverage of the festival in many of its 30 languages.

Deutsche Welle's coverage of the Beethovenfest includes reporting and artist portraits in multiple languages on its website (dw.com/kultur and dw.com/culture) and social media (facebook.com/dw.kultur, facebook.com/dw.culture, twitter.com/dw_kultur and twitter.com/dw_culture).
