World Health Organization raises its global threat alert to level 5

As countries around the world continue to suspect and confirm cases of swine flu, the World Health Organization has raised its global threat alert to level 5 - its second highest. In Mexico, where the virus appears to have originated, authorities have asked people to stay home over a five day holiday weekend. Although almost all of those infected outside Mexico have had mild symptoms, both US and European health officials say they do expect to see deaths from the virus.
