What's on your plate?

German environmentalists warn world meat consumption could rise radically by 2050, especially across Asia. This, they say, would result in "devastating" environmental and health consequences across the planet. DW (English) social media followers sent pictures to show what a typical meal for them is in 2014.

This is a picture of what I had in my kitchen in Italy - presented in the form of a food pyramid: Vegetables and fruits, then legumes and cereals. The top has nuts, dark chocolate, olives, oils, tea, mushrooms, spices. As you can see, it's perfectly vegan and shows diversity.

This is best vegetarian food - made in the city I live in, in Iran. It shows a special drink made of yogurt and bread that is full of vegetables.

The Paleo diet is becoming more and more popular in the US. So delicious. Mixed salad and broiled Alaskan shrimp with Napa Valley Chardonnay.

It's over 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit) where we are in Australia - too hot to cook inside - so we opted for a Weber barbeque which we can use outside. Turkey, pineapple, pumpkin, and paprika potatoes. A family favorite.

This is Whitetail deer summer sausage meat. Usually the western part of the US has autumn deer hunting season from the month of November. Much of the meat is donated to homeless food pantries.

Red rice, salad, corchorus [mallow leaves] with chicken, tursu [a dish of pickled vegetables] of aubergine.

Fresh lobster paté and cheese for tea. Fresh herbs from my garden to top it off.
