One of Germany’s most powerful business patriarchs appeared in court Wednesday. VW Chairman Ferdinand Piech faced questions about the perks-and-prostitutes scandal that came to light at Europe's largest carmaker in 2005. Piech was Chief Executive of VW during a period when the carmaker was providing labour leaders with lavish gifts and the services of prostitutes. Piech, famed for his insistence on control and attention to details, has denied having any knowledge of the activities.
