TT: Kosovo: Not any significant move towards compromise - je 10.12.2007 10

Kosovo's Serbs and ethnic Albanians have been holding talks on the future of the province for almost two years. But despite the marathon negotiations, neither side has been willing to make any significant move towards compromise. The deadline for an agreement runs out today- but the negotiating team, made up of delegates from the US, Russia and the EU, has already submitted its report to the UN, declaring that the talks have failed. Most observers believe that Kosovo's political leaders will now make their own declaration of independence - despite the fierce objections of Serbia, Russia and a number of EU-member states.
