European Union leaders are meeting in Brussels today in the wake of the financial crisis hitting markets around the world. The meeting was already scheduled, BUT the global crisis will certainly top the agenda. Last weekend, the 15 euro zone countries along with Britain agreed to coordinated efforts aimed at stemming the losses and boosting confidance in the financial sector. Germany, Europe's largest economy, is making good on its pledges and debating a massive rescue plan for its country's banks with the hopes that other EU nations will also do the same. Some of the EU's top thinkers have been considering what the bloc needs to do to avoid future financial crisises. Here's a look at a couple of their viewpoints:
