TT: Albanians and Serbs and their problems living side by side - je 10.12.2007 10

Michael BärDecember 10, 2007

Even eight years after the Kosovo conflict, the two groups have problems living side by side. +++LM-REIN+++ The ethnic Albanian majority has a strong presence across most of the province. A majority of the 90-thousand Kosovo Serbs live in the north... though a few are still in enclaves in the west and south. One such enclave is the town of Strip-tsche, close to the border to Macedonia, right in the heart of the Kosovo Mountains. Before the war, the main source of income here was the tourist industry. +++LM-RAUS+++ And many international observers believe that Strip-tsche could serve as a model for the way Serbs can continue to live in an independent Kosovo. But only if they choose not to leave - as so many of their fellow Serbs have already done.
