Three for free: Cartoonists in support of freedom of speech
As a part of DW Freedom, three cartoonists offer their take on the state of free speech in their home countries: Russia, Turkey and Kenya.
Sergey Elkin - Freedom of expression in Russia
Cartoonist Sergey Elkin, said that he wanted to convey the feeling that while Russian people are reluctant to speak their minds, they still feel the need to scream out their opinions.
Selcuk Erdem - Freedom of speech in Turkey
Although Erdem prefers to let his cartoons do the talking, he offered this quote to accompany his cartoon: "First thing they do is to come after your free thoughts. Always. When they silence you, they can do anything they want. Can't they?"
GADO - The curse of Sisyphus.
Focussing on the issue of press freedom in the age of Trump and Facebook, Kenyan cartoonist GADO labeled this cartoon as a "general view of the media in the age of fake news!"
