Münster, the ancient university town and former prince-bishopric is brimming with cultural history. The town hall is one of the main attractions. In 1648, it was here that treaties were signed to end the Thirty Years War. The Pablo Picasso Graphics Museum is also not to be missed. It has almost the entire collection of Picasso's graphic art.
In nearby Warendorf, King Frederick William III founded a Royal Prussian stud in 1826. To this day, it is the headquarters of German equestrian sports. Gronau is known for its musicians. German rock veteran Udo Lindenberg was born here. And in 2004, a Rock 'n' Pop museum opened its doors. Exhibits include Elvis Presley's army jacket and Ian Anderson's flute.
