A crowd of mourners has gathered in the centre of Kirgistan's capital on Friday to mourn at least 75 people killed, following several days of violence. President Kurmanbek Bakiyev has refused to step down, though he has offered to talk to the opposition leaders who have claimed control of the former Soviet state. The uprising has cast doubt on the future of a U.S. air base in the country. Security forces prevented looting in the capital Bishkek overnight.
