The German city of Dresden might lose its world heritage status after allowing the construction of a controversial automobile bridge

UNESCO is finalising its list of World Heritage Sites at a meeting in Seville, in southern Spain. Dresden's Elbe Valley in eastern Germany is concerned it will lose its coveted World Heritage status. UNESCO says a new bridge being built there would destroy the Elbe valley's landscape. But Dresden city officials says the bridge is neccessary.
