Cabbage rolls
Ingredients:
1 head of cabbage
1 kg minced meat
1 onion
water
oil for frying
salt and pepper
Directions:
Chop the onion finely and put it in a bowl together with the minced meat. Season liberally with salt and pepper and mix well.
Cook the cabbage for about 10 minutes in boiling water. (The leaves are then easier to separate.) Remove the leaves carefully and fill them with the meat mixture. Roll up the leaves, using either kitchen string or skewers to hold in place.
Brown the cabbage rolls in a pan with hot oil. Add 500 ml of water to the pan, and simmer on low heat for about an hour. Remove the rolls and strain the sauce. If you want, you can add starch (i.e. cornstarch) to the sauce to thicken.
Chop the rest of the cabbage, brown it in oil and let it simmer. Serve the cabbage rolls together with the braised cabbage, some boiled potatoes and sauce.
Bon apetit!
