The British government slaps a hefty tax on bank bonuses

The push for taxing fat bonuses for bankers is getting some executive political attention. French President Nicolas Sarkozy and British Prime Minister Gordon Brown have issued a call for a global reform of financial markets. In a jointly-written op-ed piece in the Wall Street Journal, both men say a tax on bonuses must be a priority. The British government is doing more than just talking.
