South Korea stops sale of 80 VW models

South Korea on Tuesday suspended the sale of 80 Volkswagen models in the latest blow to the German automaker over the emissions-cheating scandal.
"As of August 2, we have revoked the certification of 83,000 vehicles of 80 models," the environment ministry said in a statement.
The ministry said the revocation related to fabricated emissions and noise-pollution documents. Affected are car models from Volkswagen, Audi and Bentley.
Volkwagen had already stopped the sale of 79 models in July in response to an expanding investigation that led to the arrest of an executive of Volkswagen's South Korean unit.
In addition, the German auto giant must pay another fine of 14.3 million euros ($16 million). In November last year, South Korea fined Volkswagen Korea 11 million euros and ordered the recall of 125,000 diesel-powered cars.
The world's second largest auto-maker has been hit by fines, recalls, legal challenges and investigations in several countries in the wake of last year's dieselgate emissions scandal.
