Berlin's 57-year-old mayor Klaus Wowereit has run a smooth, gaffe-free campaign for a third term in Germany's most populous city with 2 and a half million eligible voters. He is currently in a coalition with the Left Party but may end up this time with the resurgent Greens, who have seen a boost in popularity since Japan's Fukushima catastrophe in March.
