Blatter Latest
June 14, 2015"For me, the reforms are the central topic," Scala - the head of FIFA's audit and compliance committee - said in a statement on Sunday. "That is why I think it is clearly indispensable to follow through with the initiated process of leadership change as it has been announced."
The statement came after the Swiss newspaper "Schweiz am Sonntag" ran a report, based on unnamed sources, that the 79-year-old Blatter was no longer ruling out remaining on as the head of the scandal-ridden organization.
On June 2, only four days after controversially winning re-election as FIFA president, Blatter announced that he would voluntary step down from the position. But he didn't name any specific timetable.
FIFA's executive committee will meet in Zurich on July 20 to set a date for the election of Blatter's successor. The election is expected to be held some time between December and February.
