Rolling Stones' Wood, aged 69, welcomes twins

The Twitter account of the legendary rock band congratulated its two band members on Thursday, pointing out in a follow-up tweet and hashtag that Charlie Watts was "#Charliestoocoolforbirthdays" and social media.

Ronnie Wood, meanwhile, received an early gift shortly before his own birthday on Wednesday: on May 30, his twin daughters Gracie Jane and Alice Rose were born in London, making Wood a new father again at the age of 68 (now 69).

"The girls arrived on May 30 at 22:30 and all are doing brilliantly. The babies are perfect," read a statement sent to the BBC.

Wood is already the father of four other children from previous relationships: son Jesse, with his first wife, and daughter Leah, son Tyrone and adopted son Jamie from his second marriage.

Wood, the youngest of the four Stones musicians, has belonged to the band since 1975. The band still regularly fills concert halls, and in March inspired hundreds of thousands of fans with a groundbreaking free concert in Cuba. They plan to release their first studio album in more than a decade later this year.
