Regensburg the best preserved medieval city in Germany

There's Roman, Romanesque and Gothic architecture to discover in Regensburg. The structures built between the 11th and the 13th centuries still give the cityscape its distinctive look. They include patrician houses, medieval towers, a great number of churches and monasteries and the 12th century Stone Bridge. For nearly 800 years, until 1935, it was the only bridge in Regensburg and the surrounding area that provided a reliable way to cross over the Danube.

Another emblem of the city is the only Gothic cathedral in Bavaria, with its spires and stained glass windows from the 13th and 14th centuries. The city has opened a World Heritage visitors' center where, in addition to exhibits, interactive play stations and media installations provide insights into little known facts about the city as a world heritage site.
