She's known as Germany's queen of schlager music, a genre best described as catchy and folky pop hits. Helene Fischer starts her tour "Live 2017" in Hanover on Tuesday, followed by four more nearly sold-out concerts to be held in the city through September 17.

The 33-year-old star will then move on to Hamburg, Dortmund and Cologne. Nearly 70 shows are planned for the tour until the spring.

Fischer's new show was developed in collaboration with Cirque du Soleil acrobats. "I was consciously looking for a challenge for this show and I found it," Fischer told German press agency dpa. She will be performing aerial acrobatics while singing.
