One of Germany's most prominent Catholic bishops has offered his resignation to the Pope over allegations that he slapped children. The Bishop of Augsburg, Walter Mixa, has been accused of hitting children a number of times at a Catholic orphanage, and also faced allegations of misusing funds at the institution.
