North Korea has gone ahead with a controversial rocket launch, defying international warnings

President Obama's speech we are still waiting for in Prague comes just hours after North Korea said it had indeed fired a missile over Japan. Pyongyang said the missile was carrying a communications satellite for its civilian space program. But the US, Japan and South Korea have condemned the launch saying Pyongyang is testing a long-range missile that could reach as far as Alaska. China and Russia have urged restraint on all sides.
