More than one thousand tribal leaders from across Afghanistan and 200 guests - including foreign diplomats - are gathering in the capital Kabul for a three-day meeting or jirga starting Wednesday. It's hoped the meeting will create a roadmap towards ending nine years of violence in the country. President Hamid Karzai is expected to discuss plans seeking reconciliation with the Taliban and other militant groups.
