United scored twice in the first 11 minutes of the game, crushing Arsenal's hopes of erasing a single-goal deficit from the first leg and booking a place in the May 27 final in Rome.

ManU will face Chelsea or Barcelona who meet in their semi-final decider on Wednesday. The defending champions could become the first club to win Europe's greatest prize for the second time in a row.

"We got a good start. Two quick goals knocked the wind out of their sails. It was a mountain to climb for them," said United coach Sir Alex Ferguson. " Arsenal were throwing everything forward and we caught them on the counter attack and the speed of play was fantastic...

"We should have won this cup more times and this is another opportunity. We have the quality, the energy and ambition. It's a hungry team and when the chips are down they don't let me down."

Ronaldo scores twice

South Korea winger Park Ji-sung scored the first goal in the eighth minute, seizing on a slip by Kieran Gibbs for a close-range shot.

Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo struck three minutes later with a long-range free kick. His second goal of the game came in the 61st minute.

Ferguson said his side hit the right pace right from the start.

"Obviously we got a big break for the first goal with the lad (Kieran Gibbs) slipping and Park Ji-Sung took advantage," Ferguson said. "However, in terms of how we played and our confidence and willingness to run it was overall a terrific display."

Ferguson also had nothing but praise for super star Ronaldo's form.

"I thought they couldn't handle Ronaldo. That made a big difference," he said. We had good shape but we needed someone to give them big problems and on that form Ronaldo's a fantastic player.

United's joy was tarnished by a harsh late red card for midfielder Darren Fletcher which rules him out of the final.

Barca the favorites

Meanwhile Barcelona look favorites to advance to the final after beating Spanish rivals Real Madrid 6-2 and will be hoping to capitalize on last week's goalless draw at the Nou Camp.

But Barcelona's caoch Pep Guardiola knows it's a mistake to underestimate the London side's will to win.

"If we try to challenge Chlesea's physical style it will play into their hands," he said.

"We won't avoid confrontation, but we know that is one of their big strengths and we need to use our own style of play if we are to get through.

Guardiola has warned his players they must match Chelsea in every department if they are to break up the English domination of the final stages of this competition.

"Whoever makes it through deserves to be in Rome," he said. "It will not be down to refereeing decisions, it is down to the team who wants it most.

"I hope it is not two English sides in the final, but if it is then that is because they both deserve to be there."
