Hilbert out six weeks
March 3, 2016Bayer Leverkusen right-back Roberto Hilbert broke his collarbone in Wednesday's 4-1 home loss to Werder Bremen and is scheduled to have an operation later on Thursday. The 31-year-old is expected to be out for six weeks.
Hilbert has already missed 15 matches this season due to a series of knee problems. Ahead of Leverkusen's return to the Europa League next week, the side is nursing an extensive injury list for the trip to Augsburg on Saturday.
Javier Hernandez is currently suspended, while Kyriakos Papadopoulos, Lars Bender, Jonathan Tah, Kevin Kampl, Charles Aranguiz, Stefan Kiessling and Omer Toprak all missed the defeat to Bremen.
Head coach Roger Schmidt serves the last match of his three-game touchline ban at the weekend. Schmidt's side have lost their last three league matches and currently sit in seventh place in the Bundesliga.
