Syrian Kurds have seized control of some Syrian villages in recent weeks as they participate in the uprising against Bashar Assad. Even though the West supports the Free Syrian Army, it's wary of Kurdish armed resistance. Especially Turkey is afraid Kurdish rebels might use Syrian villages to launch cross-border attacks on Turkey.
