International aid workers have begun delivering food to thousands of Congolese refugees in rebel-held areas in the east of the country. The handouts are the first following weeks of fighting. An estimated quarter-million people have been displaced since August.. amidst fighting between Tutsi rebels and government forces. The UN is warning of a humanitarian catastrophe.
