Klopp named EPL's manager of the month

The former Dortmund and Mainz head coach was named Barclays Manager of the Month as Liverpool posted a perfect league record in September, scoring wins over champions Leicester City, Chelsea and Hull City.
"I went into the office of my coaches and said, 'We are Manager of the Month! I don't need personal prizes but it's nice now I have another one,'" Klopp was quoted as saying in a statement posted on the Premier League's website on Friday.
"We are on a good way but there are so many good teams in this league and so many difficult games for us, which we have to be ready for. I'm fine with the moment, but we have to play a few more games and hopefully we perform well," he added.
Klopp beat out four others on the shortlist for September's award; Manchester City's Pep Guardiola, Alan Pardew of Crystal Palace, Arsenal's Arsene Wenger and Mauricio Pochettino of Tottenham Hotspur.
The 49-year-old Klopp, who joined Liverpool one year ago, guided the Reds to an eighth-place finish in his first season at the club, while also leading them to the Europa League final. Liverpool are currently in fourth place in the Premier League, tied on points with Arsenal, who are in third. Klopp is the first German to be named manager of the month in England's top flight.
Son named player of the month
Meanwhile, former Leverkusen player Heung-min Son of Tottenham has been named the Premier League's player of the month, after having scored four goals in September. He is to return to Leverkusen on Tuesday, when they host Tottenham in the group stage of the Champions League.
