Liverpool open German Twitter
December 9, 2015Premier League club Liverpool announced on Wednesday that its 52nd and latest social media platform available for fans around the world, is a German-language Twitter account, under the name of '@LFC_Deutsch'.
"Since the appointment of head coach Jürgen Klopp, digital traffic from Germany has increased significantly, making it the second most visited international country behind the United States," a statement read on Liverpool's official website.
Liverpool and German international Emre Can welcomed the new account with a welcome message to the club's German fans.
Matthew Baxter, chief media officer at Liverpool, said: “The club has a fantastic supporter base in Germany and it is no surprise that since the arrival of our manager, the relationship with our German community continues to grow.
“Our new German-language Twitter feed will bring that news direct to the fans in their own language, bringing them even closer to Anfield.”
The new account is the first and only Twitter account producing content in German from the English Premier League.
