U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and the European Union's foreign policy coordinator Javier Solana have urged Kenya's rival political parties to seek a coalition government. Solana's office said the US and EU would continue pushing for dialogue as a way forward following the country's disputed elections. Meanwhile Kenya's attorney-general has called for an independent investigation into the election results and an independent recount. A mass opposition rally was called off for Nairobi today - and rescheduled for next week.
