Jonathan Spiers and Mark Major are regarded as pioneers of "lighting architecture". They both started their careers designing buildings but quickly became more interested in the way artificial light can enhance a structure. Since they formed Spiers and Major Associates in London in 2003 they've illuminated buildings all over the world from the Burj Al Arab Tower in Dubai, to the Swiss Re building, better known as the Gherkin, in the city of London.
