President Emmanuel Macron has made what many commentators described as a last-ditch attempt to appease the yellow-vest protestors. In a 13-minute address from the Elysees Palace, the French president offered a 'mea culpa', compassion for the many millions in France who are struggling to make ends meet and offered a series of measures to relieve their hardship.
