Turkey’s economy is growing at a fast pace. But the accompanying demand for energy has outstripped the the country’s power-generating capacity. The government is now banking on wind parks to meet Turkey’s growing energy needs. At the end of 2010, Turkey’s wind power facilities generated some 1.3 gigawatts of electricity. The non-government organization myclimate is supporting Turkey’s efforts to expand the clean technology by buying up certificates from wind park operators and offsetting emissions caused by air travel.
