Panic because of forgotten passports, delays or detours to other border crossings -- that was the reality for many people who lived in the border regions of eastern and western Europe. But now, the abolition of border controls should not only make the lives of ordinary citizens somewhat less stressful, but it should also facilitate commerce between european countries. We examine how this latest change effects the lives of some citizens living in one area between Germany and the Czech Republic.
