What do you do when entire villages, your shop, your old school is submerged by a steadily rising lake? The 77 Percent’s Edith Kimani visits Lake Bogoria and Baringo in Kenya’s Rift Valley. The two lakes have breached their shores – a result of deforestation, tectonic shifts, heavy rainfalls and climate change.

Edith Kimani speaks to Henry Lepario, a farmer living on the shores of Lake Bogoria. He has experienced both droughts and a surplus of rainfall and floods, to which he has lost his farmland. He comes from a pastoralist community, but with no land to graze his animals, many in his community have been forced to find other ways of making a living.
