Africa boasts an abundance of natural resources that can be used to produce alternative low-carbon energies. It’s estimated that the continent’s entire electricity needs can be met with hydro-electric power. But for now, fossil fuels such as coal, oil and gas remain the most significant sources of energy production. Things aren’t very different in the southwest African country of Namibia either. The country has been slow to develop renewable energies. But a host of small initiatives have sprung up in Namibia in recent years. They aim to wean the country off polluting fossil-bases fuels and move it towards a more energy-efficient and environmentally-friendly future.
