In a landmark speech in Prague in April 2009, US President Barack Obama unveiled his vision of a world freed from the nuclear threat.

"I state clearly and with conviction America's commitment to seek the peace and security of a world without nuclear weapons," Obama said, balancing his vision - which he admitted may take the efforts of generations - with the immediate need of securing the world from the danger of nuclear terrorism.

Since that speech, Obama has been enaging the world's leaders in effort to achieve both his short-term and long-term nuclear goals. Here, DW-WORLD details the progress so far.
