Germany's Social Democrats take a dive in opinion polls ahead of September's national election

Less than two months before Germany's national elections, the country's Social Democrats have fallen to new lows in public opinion polls as the party is buffeted by a scandal surrouding the SPD's Health Minister. Ulla Schmidt ordered a government limousine driven for her use from Berlin to Alicante, Spain - a distance of some 24-hundred kilometers - where she was vacationing. She arrived back in the capital today to deal with a new wave of criticism.
