Marc Andre ter Stegen - 5

A little rushed in possession at times. Could do nothing about the goal, but failed to perform with as much confidence as he would have hoped.

Jonas Hector - 8

From quiet in Berlin to a marauding display in Munich, Hector's performance probably cemented his position in the team for the Euros. He even capped it off with his first ever international goal.

Mats Hummels - 7

Proved once again that, when in form, he is pivotal to Germany's backline.

Antonio Rüdiger - 4

More solid than against England but Rüdiger is still not confident and still too hasty into the tackle.

Shkodran Mustafi - 6

Nothing much to note about his performance but Mustafi was tidy enough to have jumped ahead of Rüdiger in the pecking order.

Sebastian Rudy - 7

A persistent runner all night, Rudy showed he can do what Löw wants him to in the right wingback position. Aided by the space created by a three-man Italian defense, Rudy took advantage, but Erik Durm would likely have done the same.

Toni Kroos - 7

Scored the opener again - more delicately than he did on Saturday - and worked well in tandem with Mesut Özil in the center of the park.

Julian Draxler - 8

Excelled with both movement and passing. After Thomas Müller, he was Germany's best player on the night. If anything, he raised further questions about Löw's persistence with Lukas Podolski.

Mesut Özil - 7

In a deeper role, the Arsenal man impressed. His playmaking in the middle of the park was the springboard for a lot of Germany's attacks. Playing Özil here is not a long-term solution to the midfield conundrum, but a viable one if necessary.

Thomas Müller - 9

At home and with the armband, Müller was in his element. Despite playing wide right and being the man crossing rather than scoring, the Bayern boy delivered two assists in a strong 70 minutes.

Mario Götze - 7

Scored an important goal for him - as the celebration showed - but Götze was otherwise quiet. A few neat touches - particularly the one that lead to Hector's goal - suggest Mario is on the way back to his best though.

Substitutes:

Marco Reus - On for the final 30, but his touch still looked a little rusty.

Emre Can - Came on in midfield and looked more comfortable.
