German Farmer Leader Rejects EU Reform Plan

The German who heads Europe's farming associaiton said on Wednesday the European Union's new plan to overhaul its agriculture policy would drive large numbers of farmers out of business. Gerd Sonnleitner, who heads both the German and European farming groups, issued the comment after the EU

To achieve this goal, Fischler wants to restructure the EU subsidy program for farmers. Under the current program, farmers' subsidies are based on their production or the size of their operation.
