German Chancellor Angela Merkel has called on NATO members to improve military coordination in crisis areas such as Afghanistan. At a meeting of German armed forces commanders in Berlin, Merkel also reaffirmed Germany's opposition to extending its military role in Afghanistan to the volatile south.
