Leaders of the world's top industrial nations are in Japan for a three-day G8 summit with high food and fuel prices and poverty in Africa topping the agenda. The G8 has invited seven African leaders to join the opening day of the gathering, which is taking place on the northern Japanese island of Ho-kaido. Activists accuse G8 countries of backpedalling on pledges to double aid to the world's poorest continent.
