My favorite castle is Burg Eltz, stashed away in a hidden valley just a bit northeast of Trier on the Moselle River. As a child I pictured Sleeping Beauty having lived there. -- Reinhard Helbing, Canada

For me, the botanical garden in Dortmund is one of the best places to visit in Germany, also the Church of Our Lady in Nuremberg. -- Elvine Mbak, Cameroon

Berlin is a great city to ride a bicycle in. I rent a bicycle from a shop on Auguststrasse and see the city from end to end. There are bike paths everywhere and the drivers obey the traffic laws, which makes riding in a big city a lot less stressful. My favorite places to visit are the Humana stores, the flea market at Arkonaplatz, Grunewald, the Gesundbrunnen Center, and Alexanderplatz. The architecture in the older neighborhoods in the east can be really interesting, and there are some beautiful bridges in the city. A bicycle will get you anywhere you want to go. -- Mark McGraw, US

In Hamburg I enjoyed delicious meals, drank black beer (my favorite), sailed the river, brought flags as a souvenir and an expensive black shirt. I saw swans from a bridge. – Henry, US

I am 84 years of age now, but remember my school holidays in Bockswiese so well. I have been back with my brother and his wife Kristina, who live in Leipzig. -- Gisela Cooper, Great Britain
