Germany's music hit of the summer

What are Germans singing in the shower this hot summer? Chances are, it's Felix Jaehn's "Ain't Nobody (Loves Me Better)," featuring the youthful voice of 14-year-old British star Jasmine Thompson.

GfK Entertainment announced Monday (10.08.2015) that the 20-year-old electronic artist had officially landed Germany's summer hit of 2015. The song is a remix of Chaka Khan's 1983 original.

The market research organization selects a summer hit each year based on the accessibility of a song's melody, its danceability, vacation feeling, chart placement, streaming numbers, social media strength, and popularity on club playlists. The chosen hit should also be from a newcomer artist.

Felix Jaehn "continues the EDM trend of recent years and has delivered a danceable, catchy tune that spreads good vibes and has stormed the charts," said Mathias Giloth, head of GjK Entertainment, in a statement.

EDM - or electronic dance music - has been prevalent in recent summers, too. Felix Jaehn follows on the heels of 2014 summer hit "Prayer in C" by Lilly Wood & The Prick, and Avicii's "Wake Me Up" in 2013.

Just last month, Jaehn became the first German artist since 1989 to top the US Billboard charts, with his remix of Jamaican musician Omi's "Cheerleader." Born in Hamburg, the young DJ grew up in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and launched his career at just 16.
