Less than a day after firing their head coach, Borussia Mönchengladbach have announced his replacement.
Former Swiss international Lucien Favre has been tapped to take over coaching duties for the last-place Bundesliga team. He is expected to sign a long-term contract.
Favre takes over from Michael Frontzeck, who was let go on Sunday following Gladbach's latest defeat on Saturday, a 3-1 loss to newly promoted St. Pauli. Frontzeck had been with the team since July 2009.
The 53-year-old Favre was previously head coach at Hertha Berlin, until he was relieved of his duties in September 2009 by the struggling team.
Favre is to take charge of the team on Tuesday.
