European Commission: national rescue plans for car-making industries have to avoid protectionism

Welcome Back. As car-making industries in Europe and the US struggle with the effects of the financial crisis, the European Commission has warned government against adopting protectionist measures. Industry Commissioner, Gunther Verheugen, stressed that Washington must observe world trade rules. And the European Competition Commisioner, Neelie Kroes, says she's currently investgating six different plans to prop up car-makers in EU member states.
