Court Rejects Teenager's Claim for Cash from Wealthy Father

A teenage girl has failed to convince a German court that her wealthy father should pay her more financial support than is required by law, according to the website of German ARD television. The 18-year-old student had demanded a minimum of €1,700 each month to fund the lifestyle she felt was entitled to, which included two vacations per year, a computer and a car worth €7,000. Support levels for dependents in Germany are set by the so-called "Düsseldorfer Table," and her father, who has a monthly income of €15,000, had been paying her €865 prior to her becoming a legal adult at 18. The presiding judges at the Nuremberg court rejected her claim on the grounds her expectations were excessive and would only encourage her to try and support herself.
