Militants wounded a Japanese journalist and his translator in the latest violent incident to hit the city of Peshawar in northwest Pakistan on Friday. Meanwhile, another suspected US drone attack is reported to have killed several militants in Waziristan. On Thursday, CIA director Michael Hayden once again said Pakistan’s Federally Administered Tribal Areas were a safe haven for al-Qaeda, saying they were linked to every major terrorist threat against the US.
