China's most most prominent dissident - Liu Xiaobo - is sentenced to 11 years in prison for inciting subversion

That was German president Horst Koehler. +++ A court in the Chinese capital Beijing court has condemned the prominent dissident, Liu Xiaobo, to jail for 11 years on grounds of inciting political subversion. He had helped organise last year's "Charter 08" petition calling for sweeping political reforms. In Hong Kong, several people were injured in protests against the court's verdict. Human rights groups also criticized the stiff sentence.
